About SprintPoker
SprintPoker is a small, independent project: a free web app for planning poker, with no company or paid plan behind it. It does one job, which is letting a team estimate together without anyone anchoring the vote.
Why it exists
Many agile teams estimate with planning poker, and with so many of them working remotely, they need somewhere online to do it. An estimation session is a short meeting, and the tool for it should be quick to start. SprintPoker aims for that: one person creates a room and shares the link, everyone types a name, and voting can begin. It works in any modern browser, on a laptop or a phone, and the interface is available in seven languages.
Why it’s free and has no sign-up
Planning poker needs very little: a deck of cards, a way to keep votes hidden until everyone is ready, and a summary afterwards. None of that requires an account, so SprintPoker doesn’t ask for one.
All features are free. A room holds up to 50 people, enough for any group still small enough to estimate together.
How it works
The deck is the standard modified Fibonacci sequence: 0, ½, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 20, 40, 100, plus “?” and ☕. The room shows who has voted, with a face-down card for each participant, and a new round clears the previous votes. After the reveal you see the average and median of the numeric cards, how many votes each card got, and a consensus mark when everyone picked the same card. If your connection drops, the page reconnects and keeps your vote for the current round.
What we don’t collect
- Your name stays in your browser. It’s saved locally so you don’t have to type it again, and the room shows it to the other participants while you’re in it.
- Rooms live in the server’s memory. There’s no database of past sessions. After 24 hours without activity a room is emptied, and its names and votes are deleted. The link keeps working and opens an empty room.
- Votes are hidden until the reveal. Your card isn’t sent to anyone else’s browser before someone clicks reveal, so nobody can peek, even with developer tools open.
Without accounts there are no email addresses or passwords to store.
To know how many people visit the site, we count page views with Umami, an analytics tool that runs on our own server. It sets no cookies and doesn’t store IP addresses, and room pages aren’t counted.
What SprintPoker doesn’t do
SprintPoker has no custom decks, no timer, no host or observer roles, no Jira integration and no session history. If your team relies on any of those, it’s better to know before your next refinement meeting.
